Wahlberg wants to remake ‘Headhunters’

Shortlist recently spoke to Mark Wahlberg, where he shared his hopes in remaking the Norwegian thriller Headhunters, the film adaptation of Jo Nesbo’s novel. He said “I saw a film recently called Headhunters, It’s a Norwegian film and it’s one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time.” He then added, “I met with the director and pleaded with the studio that has the rights so we’ll see if we get anywhere with that.” It makes you wonder that if, indeed, this is “one of the best movies” Wahlberg has seen in a long time, then why touch it?

The Norwegian film directed by Morten Tyldum has already been gathering some acclaim in the festival circuit. We actually had a small write-up about it in our Film Comment Selects article. I have to say, foreign movies are getting remade quicker and quicker these days. You might actually be able to watch the US remake before you get a chance to see the Norwegian version.
